Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed has commended Islamic scholars for their contributions to education, peace and social harmony across the state.
The governor made the remarks during breaking of Ramadan fast with Islamic scholars drawn from different parts of the at the Government House in Bauchi.
Governor Mohammed described the role of religious leaders as critical to moral upbringing and peaceful coexistence, noting that the state government values their guidance and support in governance.
The governor also announced plans to commence the payment of allowances to Islamic scholars, as part of efforts to support them in the discharge of their religious and community responsibilities.
The governor urged the scholars to continue to preach tolerance, unity and peaceful coexistence, especially during the month of Ramadan, stressing that sustained peace remains key to the state’s development.
He assured the scholars of his administration’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with religious leaders in addressing social challenges and promoting community development initiatives.
In their separate remarks, the scholars expressed appreciation to the governor for the gesture, offering prayers for continued peace and progress in Bauchi State, while reaffirming their commitment to support government’s efforts through guidance and moral instruction.
