lmo: Orlu Zone Political Leaders Endorse Amadi For 2027 Governorship Election

Orlu zone Political leaders have endorsed Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi for the 2027 lmo State governorship election on the platform of the Action People’s Party, APP.

The leaders said it has begun the new year on a strong political note as opinion shapers from the Orlu Senatorial Zone unanimously and unapologetically endorsed Amadi (Mazi Gburugburu).The endorsement took place on 1st January 2026.

This was after Chima Amadi’s official declaration to contest under the platform of the APP on December 31, 2025 at Community primary school Umuehieze, Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of lmo State.

In a show of solidarity and confidence in Amadi’s leadership, prominent leaders of the Orlu Nation totally thrown their weight behind his ambition to occupy Douglas House come 2027.  

The endorsement was signed by Hon. Chime Nzeribe( Oru East), TPM Henry Maduakolam( Nkwerre), Barrister Golden Nwosu( Ohaji Egbema), High Chief Boni Ebili ( Ideato South), Dr. Peter Ukaigbe( Orlu), Chief Tony Ebi( Ideato North), Chief Athan Ogoh( Orlu) and was made available to Aljazirah Nigeria on Sunday.

The political heavyweights from Orlu Nation described Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi as a strong bridge-builder, a man of integrity, and one of the very few politicians in Imo State and Nigeria without any stain of corruption. 

They called on Imolites, especially Ndi Orlu to support, promote, and actively evangelise Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi (Mazi Gburugburu), and to mobilise residents of the Orlu Senatorial Zone to join the Action People’s Party.

In his response, Dr. Chima Amadi expressed deep gratitude to Ndi Orlu nation for their confidence and support. 

He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to building a better-developed, secure, and inclusive Imo State for all citizens.

Fidelity Bank Appoints  Onwughalu As New Board  Chair

Fidelity Bank Plc, has announced the appointment of Mrs Amaka Onwughalu as new Chairman of the financial institution’s Board of Directors with effect from Jan. 1.

A statement by the bank’s media unit says that the appointment follows completion of the tenure of Mr Mustafa Chike-Obi, on Dec. 31, 2025.

The board transitions aligns with the bank’s policy which has been communicated to the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Nigerian Exchange Group, and other stakeholders.

According to the statement “Under Chike-Obi’s leadership, Fidelity Bank repaid its Eurobond, completed the first tranche of its public offer and rights issue that were oversubscribed, expanded and received improved ratings from various agencies amongst other achievements.

“During his tenure, the bank also strengthened its capital position, record steady growth in customer deposits and total assets, deepen its digital banking capabilities, and enhance its corporate and investment banking proposition.

“The bank equally made notable progress in governance, risk management, and operational efficiency, all of which contributed to strengthened market confidence and the Bank’s sustained upward performance trajectory”. 

Reflecting on his tenure, Chike-Obi said that it was a privilege to have served as Chairman of Fidelity Bank.

“The dedication of our Board, management, and staff has enabled us to reach significant milestones. I am confident that the Bank will continue to thrive and deliver value to all stakeholders”, he said.

On her part Onwughalu’s said that her appointment marks a new chapter for the bank.

She joined the Board in December 2020, and has chaired key committees.

With over 30 years of banking experience, including executive roles at Mainstreet Bank Ltd and Skye Bank Plc.

She holds degrees in Economics, Corporate Governance, and Business Administration, and has attended executive programmes at global institutions.

“I am honoured to lead the Board of Fidelity Bank at this exciting time; Our recent achievements have set a strong foundation for continued growth”, she said.
