Lobi Stars FC Chairman,Mr. Terver Ikya has disclosed that returning the club to the premier league is his management top priority.
Ikya who made the disclosure while interacting with journalists yesterday in Makurdi, after the unveiling and signing of two new players, Ben Egigogo and Jonathan Abu.
According to Ikya the duo was signed on a one- year contract with the Makurdi side said to strengthen the club’s weak areas.
He recalled that the new management on assumption discovered that everything about the club was faulty particularly with a coach who was not doing well, explaining that management despite the lapse decided not to touch him.
He expressed optimism that with God behind the new management, Lobi Stars FC would get promoted back to the premier league.
Ikya revealed that management took a good look at the performance of the two players before bringing them to join the team officially, equally announcing that about three players who have been engaged already would be joining the club on January 5, after an unveiling ceremony before the media, adding that the aim is to strengthen the club in preparation to the task ahead.
Ikya who warned Benue people against witch-hunting the club as such attitude would not mean well for the club, pointed out that for the club to succeed there’s need for unity, urging Benue citizens who he described as owners of the club and fans to work together as a family for the club to bounce back.
He said the new management under his watch is building a system expected to exist beyond its administration, bearing in mind especially that Lobi Stars FC is a brand, and advised people to criticize management but constructively instead of doing so because they hate certain faces working as management staff of the club.
The Lobi Stars FC chairman who described as painful the present position of Lobi Stars, blaming its relegation to the hostile environment the team faced at their adopted Nasarawa home, a development he argued has caused more problems to the club, commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for supporting the club before and presently despite the challenges.
He expressing delight with the governor’s directive that the contractor handling renovation at the Aper Aku stadium expedite action for the club to return their home matches to Makurdi, believing that Lobi Stars will rise to the top playing at home.
Responding the new unveiled players, Ben Egigogo promised to support the team by adopting to the coach pattern for it to return back to the premier league while Jonathan Abu, assured that having come on board officially with an understanding of the target which is to return to the premiership, he would do his best for Lobi to actualize the dream with God and team work.
