Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has announced his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Fubara who was elected as governor under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, made the disclosure yesterday at a stakeholders’ meeting in Government House, Port Harcourt, in the wake of no fewer than 15 members of the State House of Assembly that recent defection to the APC.
The lawmakers who were led by the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, ascribed their defection to the division within the PDP.
AljazirahNigeria recalls that Gov Fubara on Monday was reported to have paid a visit to President Tinubu at the Aso Rock villa prior to his defection to the ruling APC. Gov Fubara, who had a running supremacy battle with his reconciled godfather suffered a set back when President Tinubu suspended his government and declared a State of emergency in Rivers State for six months. Fubara , on last Sunday was seen praising President Tinubu to high heavens how God and Mr President Tinubu helped him to stay on the seat of governance.
The climax of his defection was the singing of President Tinubu’s political anthem ” On Your Mandate We Shall Stand”and the Chief Staff , Hon Edison Ehie was seen hurriedly removing the PDP ‘s flag from the wall behind Gov Fubara and his supporters in unison joined him to sing the Jagaban of Borgu’s political anthem. Fubara boldly said that ” They are the people to support Tinubu in his political ambition because the people are with him”
AljazirahNigeria recalls that Fubara before his suspension was lifted ,had a peace meeting with his then political adversaries mediated by the ruling APC and President Tinubu, all the agreements reached weren’t disclosed to the public but were observed acted upon by gov Fubara, who dissolved his cabinet and publicly declared that ” No sacrifice is greater than Peace “. We believe that the last paragraph of that peace deal was implemented by the oil-rich Rivers State Governor by defecting to the ruling APC so as to support President Tinubu in his re-election bid come 2027.
Similarly, the Osun State Governor, Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke yesterday unveiled the Accord as his new political party and announced his intention to seek re-election for a second term on the platform of the thumb up party.
Adeleke, made the announcement at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in the presence of national and state leaders of the Accord.
