Federal lawmaker representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Plateau State Governor, Senator Simon Bako Lalong, has commiserated with the Muslim Ummah in the state over the death of Sheikh Lawal Adam, who until his demise was Chief Iman of Jos Central Mosque.
Lalong, in a message made available to AljazirahNigeria on Friday by his Special Adviser (Media), Dr. Makut Simon Macham, described the late Sheikh “as a man of peace who used his position to promote unity among Muslims and non-Muslims alike”.
He recalled the support received from the Iman during his tenure as Governor “in pushing for forgiveness and breaking down all faultlines that were previously exploited by crises merchants to activate ethno-religious clashes and disrupt peace on the Plateau”.
The federal lawmaker extended his heartfelt condolence to Adam’s family, the leadership of Jos Central Mosque as well as the entire Ulamah in the State.
He also prayed that God will forgive the departed Imam his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.
