Maxitrust Microfinance Bank Ltd, one of the innovation-driven micro lenders in Nigeria, has launched a flagship funding package – MAXI-WASH in demonstration of its commitment to health, dignity, and sustainable living in the country.
Speaking during the launch of grassroots-oriented product developed in partnership with Water.org and the National Association of Microfinance Banks (NAMB) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the Managing Director of the MfB, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Abdullahi, explained that the products launch marked a significant milestone in MFBs journey toward inclusive finance with social impact.
He clarified: MAXI-WASH is more than a loan product: it is a commitment to health, dignity, and sustainable living. Through this product, we are empowering households, schools, markets, and communities to access clean water, build modern toilets, water storage systems, hand-washing facilities and improve hygiene standards in line with Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).
“Our partnership with Water.org and NAMB underscores the power of collaboration in addressing real human needs. By combining access to finance with access to safe water and sanitation, we are helping to build healthier communities and a more productive environment, the banker added.
While thanking the Board Chairman, Surveyor Ugo Ejim, and members of the board
for their visionary leadership, the NAMB and Water.org for their technical support, Abdullahi urged customers of the bank to take advantage of the introduction of MAXI-WASH facility as a tool for transforming lives, homes, and businesses.
In his brief remarks at the event, the Board chairman, said: Todays event is not just another product launch; it is a demonstration of how finance can be used as a tool for social transformation. With MAXI-WASH, we are extending financial access to promote clean water, improved sanitation, and better hygiene: the essentials of human dignity and sustainable living.

Commenting on the launch of the healthcare and hygiene-supporting facility, the National Treasurer of the National Association of Microfinance Banks (NAMB), Mr. Mohammed Idris, described the associations partnership with Maxitrust MfB and Water.org on the product launch as desirable for improving Nigerias healthcare and hygiene system.
He said: Let me say here that the collaborative efforts of the NAMB, Maxitrust MFB and Water.org on MAXI-WASF facility is a right step towards building systems that will eradicate the menace of open defecation, provide quality and affordable water supply and by implication, improve healthy and quality lifestyle for millions of Nigerians and other residents in the country.
In his remarks, the Senior Partnership Account Officer of Water.org, Gilbert Okopon, said the MAXI WASH loan product by Maxitrust MFB is poised to break financial barriers, enabling families to invest in health, dignity, and a better future.
“Access to safe water and hygiene is not a luxury but a right. Together, were building a future where safe water and sanitation are within everyones reach”, Okopon added.
