As part of efforts to promote inclusive education, Rotary Club of Asokoro has donated 12 newly furnished wardrobes to Model Girls Secondary School in Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, to improve students living condition and enhance their ability to focus on their studies.
Speaking at the commissioning of the new wardrobes in the students dormitory, President of Rotary Club of Asokoro, Chinagorum Onuorah and said the school lacks adequate storage facilities, resulting in students clothes and books being scattered throughout the hostel.
She noted that each wardrobe serves as a locker where students can store their clothes, books and personal belongings.
The president emphasised that the donation is part of Rotary Club’s commitment to support education and literacy in underserved communities.
Onuorah explained that Rotary Club plans to continue its humanitarian service to other less privileged communities. While they have more work to do at the current school, they intend to reach out to well-spirited individuals to emulate their efforts and support the school.
Before moving to another community, they will ensure that the current project is well taken care of.
Vice Principal of the school, Mr Shagawo Ishaku expressed gratitude for the donation and pledged to ensure that the wardrobes are well maintained.
The Welfare Committee Chairman of Model Junior Secondary School, AMAC, Barrister Francis Osenwengie expressed appreciation to Rotary Club for the donation, saying the gesture had addressed one of the significant challenges we face in ensuring the welfare of our students.
“Prior to the donation, students struggled to store their belongings securely, leading to issues with rodents damaging their provisions.
“The new wardrobes will greatly improve their living conditions and enable them focus on their studies without unnecessary distractions.
He said Rotary Club had a long history of rendering humanitarian services, including providing medical care, food, clothing and financial support to those in need. Their efforts have made a significant impact on communities and we are grateful for their support.
