Borno Attorney-General Urges Legal Practitioners To Embrace Innovation, Tech

From HASSAN JIRGI Maiduguri

Borno State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Hauwa Abubakar has called on legal practitioners to enhance their expertise by adopting innovative and technological skills to advance modern legal practice.

Abubakar made the call while declaring open, a workshop for legal officers from the ministry, private lawyers and judicial staff in Maiduguri.

Emphasising the importance of staying ahead in a rapidly evolving legal landscape, the attorney-general noted that leveraging technology and innovative approaches are essential in improving efficiency, accessibility and effectiveness in the justice sector.

According to her, the training organised by Crux Legal Training Services Limited with the theme, ‘Legislative Drafting, Law Reform and Review, Conflict Resolution and Post-conflict Peacebuilding,’ will enlighten legal practitioners on the role of information technology in legal practice, strengthen the rule of law and access to justice.

She also emphasised that “law is dynamic and because of this, everyone involved must be dynamic.

“We cannot be static because the law is subject to change. So, because of the undergrowth in some critical areas, those dealing with it must keep at least an average pace with legal developments.”

Abubakar noted that while working with Governor Babagana Zulum, she is always inspired to improve the capacity of workers, not just the system, because the state government is taking giant steps to improve the legal system.
