Borno State government has moved to improve trade and investment with the establishment of an Industrial Hub Management Unit.
This was announced Monday in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Alhaji Bukar Tijani, in Maiduguri.
Tijani said Governor Babagana Zulum gave the approval with the facility serving as a multi-facility complex designed to stimulate economic growth through diversified processing and manufacturing activities.
The SSG said the governor’s approval underscored the commitment to strengthen the hub’s operations, improve efficiency and attract further investment to the state.
“Governor Babagana Zulum has approved the establishment of a dedicated Borno State Industrial Hub Management Unit to strengthen its operations in Maiduguri, improve efficiency and attract more investment into the state,” the SSG said.
He said the hub is currently hosting plants for solar panels, waste recycling and food processing of tomato, cassava, ginger and onion.
The SSG said it would host manufacturing lines for corn chips, biscuits and school furniture.
“Since its commissioning, the hub has shown significant potentials to revitalise local industry, generate employment and promote industrial self-sufficiency,”he said.
According to the statement, the governor also approved the appointment of Mr Bukar Kolomi, his Senior Technical Assistant, as the Industrial Hub Manager.
The SSG noted that Kolomi is a seasoned administrator with vast experience and technical expertise in engineering and other related fields.
Tijani said the Industrial Hub Management Unit would operate under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism to ensure seamless coordination.
