Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori on Saturday inspected major ongoing projects, including the multibillion-naira Udu Harbour Market, Enerhen Junction Flyover and major storm drainage systems in Warri, Effurun and Udu Local Government Areas.

The governor, who was received by residents and traders, said the projects were part of his administration’s MORE Agenda aimed at improving infrastructure, boosting local commerce and enhancing the quality of life for Deltans.

He described Udu Harbour Market as one of the largest in the state.

“This market is a strategic economic project. When completed, it will bring long-term benefits to our people and boost local commerce,” the governor said.

He explained that the modern market would feature 604 lock-up shops, 120 open stalls, a modern abattoir and other facilities, making it a major hub for business in the state.

Oborevwori also highlighted other ongoing road projects in the area, including Opete Road, Orhuwhorun Road and Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh Road.

He stressed that his government is committed to balanced development across Delta.

He assured contractors and residents that funding for the projects has been secured.

At Enerhen Junction Flyover, the governor explained that the infrastructure was designed to ease traffic congestion and improve access in Warri and Effurun. He sympathized with motorists over the delay, assuring them that relief is near.

Commending Julius Berger, the contractor handling the flyover, he added that “the ramps and fillings have been done and final asphalting will soon begin.”

During the tour, the governor was guided by Julius Berger’s Project Manager, Thamos Haut Haug.

He also inspected Phase III of Airport Road, Ugborikoko, Ugboroke, and Environs Flood Control Project under Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Agency.

Oborevwori reiterated his administration’s resolve to prioritise urban renewal and flood control. “We will continue to do more for our people. This is just the beginning,” he assured.

The governor’s visit drew applause from residents, traders and motorists who praised his developmental strides across the state.
