President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of tenure of the Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service, NSC, Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for a one-year period.

Adeniyi, whose tenure was initially scheduled to end on August 31, 2025, will now remain in office until August 2026, Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), Bayo Onanuga, said in a statement yesterday.

According to Onanuga, the extension is intended to allow Adeniyi consolidate ongoing reforms and complete key initiatives under the Tinubu administration.

In this vein, Tinubu  recognised Adeniyi’s leadership and expressed confidence that the extension would further strengthen the NSC in areas such as trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security, the spokesman said.

AljazirahNigeria recalls that Adeniyi was appointed Comptroller-General in October 2023 after serving in an acting capacity.
