FROM RAHILA ABDULLAHI, KADUNA

Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani has appointed Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki as the new Commissioner for Information, replacing Professor Muhammad Sani Bello.

Maiyaki, currently the Managing Director of Kaduna State Media Corporation, will assume his new role immediately.

Maiyaki, a seasoned communication expert with nearly two decades of experience in media and strategic communication, community engagement and policy design, has held various positions, including Acting Chairman, Data, Research and Verification Committee, Independent Presidential Campaign Council, and deputy director of Strategic Communication.

He also worked as a media and communication consultant for several international development partners, including the United Kingdom Department for International Development, DFID UK, and the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF.

While no official reason was given for Professor Bello’s removal, sources suggest that the move is part of Governor Sani’s strategy to reposition the state’s information machinery for greater efficiency and public engagement.

The governor thanked Bello for his contributions to the administration and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Bello served as the pioneer Commissioner of Education under the current administration before being redeployed to head the Ministry of Information.

Maiyaki’s appointment is expected to enhance transparency, drive strategic messaging and better connect government policies with citizens. As a strategic communicator, he is well-equipped to handle the demands of the information ministry and promote the state’s image.
