President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has honoured the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team, for their remarkable performance at the recently concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
During a special presidential reception held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, President Tinubu conferred the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) national honour on each member of the team in recognition of their dedication and success on the continental stage.
In addition to the national honour, President Tinubu announced a generous reward package for both players and officials. Each of the 24 players will receive a three-bedroom apartment at the Renewed Hope Estate, along with a cash reward of $100,000.
Members of the 11-man technical crew will also receive $50,000 each in recognition of their efforts in guiding the team to victory.
Further support came from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), as Governor Hope Uzodinma announced, on behalf of the forum, a donation of ₦10 million to each player.
The event marked a moment of national pride, with the government and stakeholders celebrating the Super Falcons for flying Nigeria’s flag high and setting a standard for excellence in African women’s football.
