Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes as many as nine teams are capable of winning the Premier League title next season, although he maintains that his side has the “right ingredients” to emerge victorious.
The Gunners have finished second in each of the last three seasons and have bolstered their squad this summer with the signings of Martín Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Nørgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga for a combined fee of over £120 million ($138 million).
Further additions are expected, with Arsenal in advanced talks to sign striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP and defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia.
However, Arteta acknowledged the fierce competition, noting that rivals such as Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea have also made significant investments.
When asked whether this could finally be Arsenal’s season to claim a major trophy, Arteta said:
“Every year we have to see how things develop, but I see the right balance in terms of maturity, experience, youth, hunger – all the ingredients are there.
“The thing is, there are another six, seven, eight clubs in the league that also have the right ingredients to win, and there’s only going to be one winner. So we have to focus a lot on the things we can control to achieve what we want at the end of the season.”
