Bright Osayi Samuel Football Tourney Debuts July 30

Edo state Football Association and the organisers of the maiden Edition of  Bright Osayi Samuel under 13 Football tournament has fixed July 11th 2024 for the press briefing and Presentation of trophies and other items.

Speaking to the media in his office at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City, Edo FA chairman,  Fred Newton Erhunmwunse stated that the tournament will run from July 30th  to August ending in Benin City, with 64 teams from across the three senatorial districts of Edo State Participating.

“As you can see, we are set for the maiden Edition of Bright  Osayi Samuel Football tournament for under 13 boys in the state, but we shall begin with the Press briefing, presentation of trophy, and other items, then a media parley with the organisers ( Edo FA) and the cup donor/sponsor, here at the media centre of the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin City Fred Newton Erhunmwunse stated.

“Stakeholders of the game and sports journalists from across Nigeria will be here for the event, the organisers and the participating  teams  can’t wait for the tournament to begin , the Edo FA boss said”.

The Nigeria Super Eagles  and Fenerbache of Turkey star Samuel Osayi was in Benin City early June 2024 with his parents to meet with Edo state Governor Godwin Obaseki and Former Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan who was in Benin City during the time,

The Young Talented Nigeria international who expressed happiness returning to his roots during his visit to Benin City,  cut his teeth  playing Street  Football in the   UK at 11 years. He  said his is giving back to the society through the tournament that  will be an annual event, adding that the tournament is  aimed at catching them young, nurture and develop them for future challenges.

Bright Osayi Samuel who is from Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state has promised the organisers his full support to ensure the kids gets the best from the tournament.
