Nigerian Army has commissioned a renovated multipurpose science laboratory at Government Day Secondary School Jaji in Kaduna State.
The project was executed as part of the Civil-Military Cooperation activities to mark the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2025.
Speaking during the commissioning and handing over of the renovated laboratory to the school authority, the Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Major-General Gold Chibuisi pointed out that the science laboratory was previously in a dilapidated state.
Chibuisi, who was represented by Brigadier-General BS Keji, said the dilapidated structure has been refurbished with modern facilities, including state-of-the-art equipment, Physics, Biology and Chemistry equipment and consumables in line with the West African Examination Council’s, WAEC, standards.
Also, a solar-powered borehole supplying water directly to the laboratory and school, electrical installations, 5KVA power generating set to provide electricity, fire safety, fire extinguisher for emergencies, aesthetic improvements, painted walls, walkways with kerbs and interlocks were provided.
Major-General Chibuisi said the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, approved four projects for the Nigerian Army Day Celebration, demonstrating the army’s commitment to non-kinetic lines of military operations and strengthening relations with local communities.
He, however, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede for his visionary leadership and approval of resources for the project.
He also appreciated the school authority and the people of Jaji for protecting the facility during construction.
The Nigerian Army Day Celebration is an annual event showcasing the army’s professionalism, patriotism and commitment to national unity, operational excellence and civil-military relations.
This year’s celebration includes various activities, such as commissioning of Civil Military Cooperation projects, a golf tournament, free medical outreach and public speaking engagements.
