Kaduna-based philanthropist and entrepreneur, Catherine Bitrus has empowered about 250 vulnerable women with grinding machines in Manchok community, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The women were also given food items including bags of rice, cartons of indomie, cooking oil and seasoning.
The philanthropist, who is the chief executive officer of Natural Beauty Secret, pledged to sustain the initiative for the benefit of mankind.
Presenting the items in Manchok, Bitrus explained that the gesture was borne out of her desire to support rural women struggling to make ends meet.
“I have been blessed by God and I feel it is only proper that I share his blessings with other people.
“I have decided to reach out to these vulnerable women because we all know that things are not easy for alot of them,” she said.
Bitrus urged the beneficiaries to work hard and not give up on themselves as they are capable of anything they set their mind to do.
She lauded Governor Uba Sani for creating a conducive atmosphere for women to thrive and prosper in the state.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, James Kanyip commended the entrepreneur for giving back to her community.
Kanyip urged other well-meaning individuals and organisations to follow in the footsteps of Bitrus by providing succour to the less privileged.
On his part, chairman of the planning committee, Lucky Ezra described Bitrus as a woman with a heart for community and the less privileged.
Ezra tasked them on the need to put the items they had been given to good use.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Josephine Bature expressed gratitude to the philanthropist for coming to their aid.
She prayed God to replenish her pocket and grant her the enablement to do more for other people. (NAN)
