Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended a woman, Zaliha Shuaibu, for allegedly killing her co-wife’s three-month-old baby boy.
According to the statement signed and made available to newsmen by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the incident occurred on May 13 at their residence in Malari Village, Soba Local Government Area.
However in the course of police investigations, the baby’s mother, Maryam Ibrahim, had left the infant in her room while she used the restroom. Upon her return, she found Zaliha holding the baby, who had foam coming out of his mouth and an injury on his neck. The baby was rushed to a village hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police arrested Zaliha, who confessed to the crime and revealed that she conspired with Lawal Muhammad, the husband’s junior brother, who provided her with acid used to commit the act. Muhammad is currently at large.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has assured the public that justice will be served, and all suspects found complicit will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
