*Recognises NTAC DG as “Grand Commander of Ideal Education in Nigeria Year 2025 “
*As NTAC DG reaffirms commitment to youth engagement, nat’l development
Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub,was today honoured with the title of ” Grand Commander of Ideal Education in Nigeria Year 2025.”The award is in recognition of the positive contributions NTAC has made in the development of education in Africa,the Caribbean and Pacific countries since the DG assumed the Office of DG,Nigerian Technical Aid Corps in 2023.
While recounting the many impacts NTAC has initiated and completed in the past twenty months in the Tinubu Administration , members of the Yoruba Youth Assembly Worldwide, led by their President ,Hon.Thomas Oderinde,who visited the Agency,Wednesday,in Abuja, said they had come to identify with the national transformation and international diplomatic efforts of the Agency since President Tinubu took over the reins of governance in Nigeria in 2023.
They also applauded Mr.President’s efforts at re-asserting the place of Nigeria as a global leader through his foreign policy goals.
Hon. Oderinde commended the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps for its remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s foreign policy through technical diplomacy and professional volunteerism.
He described the Agency as a symbol of Nigeria’s soft power, emphasizing the importance of including the youth in its mission to build solidarity among developing nations.
He also expressed the Assembly’s interest in collaborating with NTAC on youth development initiatives, volunteer deployments, and cultural diplomacy programmes that project Nigeria’s values globally.
He reiterated the Assembly’s dedication to promoting national unity, leadership development, and African integration.
While appreciating President Tinubu’s dedication to continue to empower countries with gaps in education and other development needs,the DG praised the group’s patriotic zeal to support progressive ideals and recognized them as a credible voice in youth advocacy.
He also highlighted the strategic role of the Nigerian youth in the nation’s development architecture and encouraged deeper involvement in civic, diplomatic and service-oriented initiatives.
Rt.Hon.Buba provided insights into the mandate of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps, including its efforts in deploying professionals to African, Caribbean and Pacific countries as part of Nigeria’s international co-operation and development assistance efforts.
He assured the visiting youth leaders of the Agency’s openness to explore partnership opportunities that align with its mission and the broader objectives of Nigeria’s foreign policy.
The high-level engagement was marked by productive dialogue, strategic exchange of ideas, and a mutual commitment to fostering national development through youth engagement.
The visiting delegation included key members of the organization’s leadership drawn from all the Yoruba-speaking States of the Federation and representing a diverse and vibrant cross-section of Yoruba youth from Nigeria and the Diaspora.
The visit of the group which underscored the growing role of diverse organizations in national transformation and international diplomacy exemplifies the necessity of stakeholders’ engagement in the operations of the Technical Aid Corps Scheme in the current Administration.
High points of the event included the induction of the NTAC DG into the Yoruba Youths Assembly Worldwide ‘s Hall of Fame and the presentation of a plaque to him in respect of the awards.
The visit concluded with shared commitment to continuous engagement. Both parties expressed optimism for future collaborations that would harness the energy and innovation of the youth to strengthen their common efforts.
The visit forms part of the Agency’s ongoing efforts to strengthen stakeholder relationships and deepen the participation of organizations in Nigeria’s international development initiatives.
Among those who were present at the visit were the Director of Programmes at NTAC,Amb.Zakari Usman; the Head of Accounts,Mrs Meimunat Haruna-Mustapha;the Head of Internal Audit,Mr.Lawal Adekola as well as the Assistant Director (Programmes),Mr.Debo Fehintola,among many others.
