Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, foiled a bandit attack and neutralised one suspect during a special operation in Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State.
According to a post yesterday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, via his verified X handle, the operation, conducted under Operation Lafiyan Jama’a, was based on credible intelligence about the movement of armed bandits around Fikyu axis in Ussa.
Zagazola revealed that troops laid ambush around Gafar village at approximately 9pm on Saturday, following reports of suspected bandits planning to launch an attack in the area.
“Troops laid an ambush along identified crossing points of bandits in the area. They sighted some bandits moving towards Gafar with possible intent to attack,” the report stated.
The ambush party reportedly engaged the suspects, killing one on the spot, while others escaped into the surrounding bush.
During the clearance operation that followed, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle reportedly stolen from a local resident.
The recovered items, according to sources, are now in the custody of the military for further action.
