Niger State governor, Umaru Bago has praised civil servants for their commitment to the service of their fatherland.
While addressing workers to commemorate the 2025 May Day in Minna, the governor acknowledged the significant role of workers in nation-building.
He noted that civil servants are indispensable in governance, as they serve as the engine room that drives the effective implementation of government policies and programmes.
The governor commended organised labour and the entire workforce for demonstrating resilience and understanding with the present administration, especially in the face of the prevailing harsh economy.
He reminded workers of the need to ensure professionalism and keep to the Civil Service ethics, while remaining focused, dedicated and committed to their duties.
Bago expressed the determination of his administration to reposition the civil service and make it more efficient and effective in service delivery.
He assured that the welfare of workers remains paramount to him.
In his address, the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Idrees Lakpene commended the governor for his commitment to the welfare of civil servants.
Lakpene expressed optimism that the governor would provide more succour to civil servantsz just as he has exemplified in the payment of the new minimum wage.
