Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima has laid a foundation stone of the headquarters of the North East Development commission in Maiduguri, Borno State
The Vice president was accompanied by the executive Governor of Yobe state Hon. Mai Mala Buni who was ably represented at the occasion by his Deputy His Excellency Hon Idi Barde Gubana .
The vice President Kashim Shattima also has reassured the people of the region, that federal government is commitment to improving the welfare and future of the citizens through foundational principles.
Senator Kashim Shettima further disclosed that Northeast Development Commission is a critical tool driving the development agenda of the region after a decade of devastation by insurgents.
He further explained that NEDC will serve as an avenue for bringing lasting peace and stability to the entire North eastern sub-region, adding that the commission would also restore hope from challenges that hindered the development of the region.
According to him president Tinubu’s administration will provide an enabling environment for every child to access quality education, accessible healthcare, economic development, and peace and security in the North East.
The vice president said the NEDC’s new head office will also serve as the hope on innovation, a center for strategic planning that will guide for a brighter future.
The vice President also performed the ground – breaking ceremony of the second phase of the construction of 27.01km jere Nbowul road network Mafa/jere Local government in Maiduguri, Borno state capital
He commended the effort of the Northeast Governors for their commitment and willingness to rebuild the region.
In his welcome address the managing Director North East Development Commission Alhaji Mohammed Alkali said sub-Section 9-1 of NEDC the commission, provides that the commission shall have the headquarters in Maiduguri Borno State Capital and establishment of an office in each State of the North East Zone.
The managing Director of NEDC Muhammad Alkali said the Commission has achieved over ninety percent progress in the construction of those Offices in most of the States.
The Deputy Governor was accampanied by the speaker yobe state House of assembly RT Hon Chiroma Buba Mashio, leader Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, Hon Aji Yerima Bularafa, Architecture Ahmad Buba Abba Kyari and special adviser on religious affairs.
