Ex-Rep. Member Urges SEDC To Invest In Railroads, Education

Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Samuel Onuigbo has urged the South East Development Commission ,SEDC, to focus more on provision of railroads, education and agriculture.

Onuigbo, who represented Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency said this in an interview yesterday.

He said that railroads were critical transportation infrastructure with the capacity to inter-connect all the states of the South East.

“The South East is dominantly business oriented, therefore railroads that connect Owerri to Aba to Onitsha to Enugu is very important.

“I also advise them to invest massively on education and agriculture for economic stability of the zone”, he said.

The former House of Representatives Member described education as a thriving industry in the South East that should be given more attention.

Onuigbo further called for investment in agriculture which would go a long way in creating jobs for the masses.

He expressed optimism in the potential of agriculture to arrest insecurity through food security.

Onuigbo who commended President Bola Tinubu for creating the SEDC, said it ought to have been the first development commission.

He said that the creation of the commission was imperative in view of the infrastructural devastation in the zone as a result of the civil war.

Onuigbo reiterated confidence in President Tinubu’s policies, saying that they were yielding results.

He ascribed the crash in the prices of Petroleum Motor Spirit ,PMS, and relative stability in foreign exchange rate to deliberate policies of the President Tinubu-led government.
