Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Gombe State Command has described its meeting with religious leaders as a significant step toward fostering peace, understanding and security.
The meeting, which aimed to strengthen collaboration between security agencies and religious communities, is part of NSCDC’s mandate to monitor the activities of religious organisations, trade unions and other groups as outlined in Section 3 (G) (H) of the NSCDC Act 2007.
Speaking at the meeting, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Gyama Gyawiya emphasised the vital role of faith in shaping societal values and called on religious leaders to work alongside security agencies to ensure peace and security development across Gombe State and Nigeria at large.
“Faith plays a pivotal role in instilling values and morals. It also gives our people a collective purpose. This is why working with religious leaders is essential in promoting peace and addressing security challenges,” Gyawiya stated.
The meeting was attended by key representatives of the Muslim and Christian communities, including the Chairman of the Muslim Council of Gombe State, Khadi Usman Liman (rtd), and State Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Reverend Adams Adagi.
The religious leaders expressed readiness to collaborate with NSCDC and other security agencies to foster harmony and resolve security challenges.
NSCDC emphasised its commitment to build a sustainable relationship with all stakeholders to address local security challenges and create a safer, more harmonious society.
