Ogun State Commissioner for Housing, Jamiu Omoniyi has disclosed that Gateway Aviation Estate would provide a convenient and supportive living environment for professionals working or doing business around the agro cargo airport.
The commissioner disclosed that basic infrastructural facilities, including pipe borne water, electricity, good network and security had been put in place, while a fibre optic internet facility already connected to the airport would soon be linked to the estate for easy business transactions by residents.
Omoniyi, who disclosed this while inspecting the first phase of the estate located in Iperu in Ikenne Local Government Area, said with the available facilities, subscribers would enjoy the ease of doing business around the airport from home.
He stated that the project had generated about 5,000 jobs drawn from different skills such as bricklayers, plumbers, roofers, electricians, aluminium fabricators, among others, providing N700 million daily wages for workers, which had contributed to the state’s net Gross Domestic Product, GDP.
The commissioner, who said with the available infrastructural facilities, the first phase of the estate is ready for commissioning, while the second phase is under construction for new subscribers, noted that the estate would serve as a hub for business activities around the airport.
“Gateway Aviation Estate will compliment Ogun Agro Cargo Airport and other commercial operations which would also serve as a hub for business activities with the state.
“The airport on its own cannot thrive without having a community around it, that is why gateway aviation village is well primed to support and compliment the aerotropolis so that people that work and do business around that environment will have a place where they can live and work.
“Very soon we will introduce a fibre optic that is already connected to the airport so that the internet facility is top notch, you are already connected to the world and the implication is that you will stay in your house, you could do your business and everything that is needed to make a complete living,” he said.
