Vice Chancellor of the University of Delta, UNIDEL, Agbor, Professor Stella Chiemeke has charged the newly elected students union executive to shun cultism and other social vices.
Professor Chiemeke gave the charge on Monday during the presentation of certificates of return to the victorious candidates.
She said students should, at all times, be law abiding and take their studies seriously, as that is their primary reason for being on campus.
She noted that the University of Delta, Agbor, has an open door policy and enjoined them to feel free to share ideas with the management on the welfare of students.
The vice chancellor commended the election committee for conducting a transparent, free and fair election that was judged as one of the best in Nigeria by election observers.
Earlier, Chairman of the election committee, Comrade Azani Nwabukwu, thanked the management for finding them worthy to conduct the first election in the fastest growing university in Africa.
Comrade Nwabukwu also thanked the vice chancellor for the unalloyed support and suggestion for e- voting, which was highly credible and accepted.
Those elected and presented with certificates of return were the President, Comrade Peter Ighodaro, Vice President – Williams Christabel, Secretary – Okolo Wilma, Deputy General Secretary – Onwuka Dumkele, Financial Secretary – Chukwuekwu Fortune Eboagwu, Treasurer – Unabor Paul and Auditor – Okolie Kosisochukwu.
For the legislative arm, those who received certificates include lmuetinyan Favor, Etuk ldongesist Bassey, Ugherughe Precious, Blessing Howard Adegor, Acha lkechukwu, Ogberahwe Eguono and Eboibi Lynda.
Others are Anwuli Amaliamifeobi, Amaechi Favor, Daigbe Joshua, Koyaya Oghenero, Favor Peter, Otokwu Isaiah, Disi Blessing, Nwabuwe Liberty and Okpamo Favour.
In a vote of thanks, the president- elect assured the management of taking actions and decisions that would help consolidate the achievements of the vice chancellor and her management team.
