Former President, World Medical Association, WMA, Dr Osahon Enabulele has advised Nigerians to enter the New Year with greater confidence and belief in their ability to conquer the barriers and challenges confronting progress in all spheres of their national life.
The director-general, Dr Osahon Enabulele Foundation, DOEF, said as Nigerians begin the journey into the New Year, the question of how to navigate the murky waters of hunger, suffering, alienation, seeming indirection, threatening erosion of their moral compass, miasma of hopelessness and despondency, would occupy their minds.
The former president of Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, said he is however glad that Nigerians have a famed resilience against adversities, an attribute he said would serve them well in 2025.
“We must joggle in our minds the options we have as a people. We can either submit to those despairing and existential living or, as the great Nigerians that we are, rise to repair, if Nigeria puts us where we are. It is we, Nigerians, that must get us out of it and take us to where we want to go,” he said.
On the way forward, he disclosed that the foundation had resolved to kick-start 2025 with a national colloquium on Nigeria and the leadership question, including the leadership recruitment process and election management, as well as how Nigerians can truly have their health rights and universal access to health care fulfilled, on January 29 in Benin City, .
Enabulele said God given potentials and human and material resources which abound in the country must be harnessed in deliberately coordinated ways to impact lives positively.
The former WMA president urged Nigerians to think about the potential result of substituting their lamentations for real time and deliberate efforts in recalibrating their immediate community for good in the new year.
