Family of Mr and Mrs Ndubuisi Emewaglibe of Ireh Village in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has cried out to public-spirited individuals to come to their aid over the worsening health condition of their five-year-old daughter.
According to the mother of the girl, Mrs Daberechi Emewaglibe, born to the Ahamba family of Chokoneze in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, the health problems of her daughter, Chimuanya started in February 2023, first with sight issues and then got complicated to other areas.
“This is my daughter. Her name is Chimuanya. She is five years old.
“Last year, she started having issues with her sight and I took her to an eye doctor who said there is a vein that cut which is affecting her vision, that we should go for a test.
“Looking at the cost of the test, I could not afford it and I asked for help but I could not get any. This year she started feeling sick and I tried looking for help to take her to the hospital for a proper check and treatment, but I failed. I tried my best to take care of her.
“In November, she started developing some sicknesses. She cannot open her mouth to eat or drink water because her teeth clinched together. I rushed her to the hospital where I was told that her system is down, that I should quickly take her to the general hospital or children’s doctor.
“The doctor wrote an emergency note and sent us to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi. Presently, my daughter cannot stand, sit, bend her body, turn her neck, open her mouth, she does not talk and is always running temperature, which rises and goes down.
“The nurses have been feeding her through the nose with pap and water for the past three days.
“The doctor sent us for a brain scan to know the vein that cut, that is affecting her sight and causing stiffness of her body and six other tests that she will undergo to know what is going on with her health,” Mrs Emewaglibe narrated.
On the extent of treatment given to the child so far, she said nothing much had been done due to their inability to afford the bill, which is why they decided to go public in order save her daughter’s life.
“I don’t have money or any helper. That is why I decided to go public, to cry out for help. Please, my good people help me to save the life of my child, for she is going through a lot of pains. The doctor called the infection meningitis.
“She is having seizures and fever. She also needs to go for brain scan to know what is affecting her sight,” she added.
According to the family, before going to the teaching hospital, the child had been taken to Healing Hospital, Ogidi; Grace Hospital and Maternity, Ogbunike; Chizoba Hospital, Obosi, as well as Infant Children Hospital, Obosi, all in Anambra State.
Emewaglibe informed that as at Thursday, December 19, Chimuanya had started throwing up again from the nose and mouth, after being fed by the nurse, leading to the doctor administering some drugs and requested for an x-ray to be done on her chest.
As at Wednesday, December 18, she said the bill has accumulated to N1,461,483.07, excluding an urgent need of N95,000-N105,000 for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging, MRI.
The family therefore appealed to the public to come to their aid to save the life of their daughter.
