Niger State governor, Umar Bago has presented the N1.5 trillion 2025 budget to the House of Assembly.
The governor, who presented the Appropriation Bill tagged ‘Budget of Hope for Sustainability and Food Security,” in Minna, said it was exceptional, as it would strengthen the foundation laid for the rapid socio-economic development of the state.
“This budget will strengthen the strides already achieved as our deliberate focus on ensuring sustainability and secure the future of all Nigerlites. We urge for your support, cooperation and understanding of all and sundry,” the governor said.
The budget, which is higher than that of 2024 by 48.3 percent, is based on the Economic and Fiscal Update, EFU, Fiscal Strategy Paper, FSP, and budget statement as passed by the Assembly.
The budget indicates that infrastructure, housing and urban renewal got the highest allocation to the tune of over N437 billion.
Bago disclosed that the budget revenue would be derived from statutory allocation, Value Added Tax, VAT, and tax receipts from Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, and capital receipts.
Responding after the budget presentation, Speaker Abdulmalik Daji commended the governor for his strategic stewardship of the state’s resources which he said had resulted in transformative impact on the lives of citizens.
Daji reaffirmed the commitment of the 11th Assembly to continue to support the administration, even as he reiterated his hope that the next fiscal year would bring more transformative development to make Niger State a model of progress.
