House of Representatives Committee on Public Assets and Special Duties has given a seven-day ultimatum to the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, to submit the necessary documents relating to Public-Private-Partnership, PPP, in the corporation.

Chairman of  the panel, Ademorin Kuye gave the ultimatum yesterday

during a public hearing on the need to investigate and assess the performance of PPP programmes and concession in the country.

According to the chairman, the ultimatum became necessary, following the failure of the corporation to submit relevant documents that his panel had earlier requested from the agency.

Kuye directed that documents on the evidence of remittances to the special concession account, income profile from PPPs/concession/lease and specific achievements recorded by the period under reference should be tendered.

He also asked the management to tender documents and evidence of advertisement of PPPs/concession/lease and expression of interest on the leases.

In his reaction, the Acting Managing Director of NRC, Benjamin Iloanusi tendered an apology to the committee for not submitting all the required documents earlier, blaming the failure on miscommunication between his agency and the committee.

Iloanusi, who informed that they submitted documents in accordance to the earlier request, equally appealed for some time to enable the corporation submit detailed documents as requested by the committee.
