AMAC Broadcasting Service Set for Launch, Awaits NBC Approval

Officials from the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) are currently conducting an inspection visit to AMAC Broadcasting Service, a newly established municipal FM radio station.

The Managing Director and CEO AMAC Broadcasting Service regulators or original owners, municipal FM 95.3, Ibrahim Yakubu Pam said the station’s management expressed confidence in their readiness for transmission in no distance time.

“We’re good to go,” said the Managing Director. “Our studio setup and transmitting site are fully equipped. We only need to strengthen a few areas, as advised by the NBC Zonal Director.”

According to him, the station, distinguished from the existing AMAC Community Radio, will operate as a full-fledged commercial entity, catering to a wider audience and accommodating commercial content.

He explained, “AMAC Community Radio has its limitations, as a non-commercial, non-governmental organization, it operates within a confined radius, serving the local community. AMAC Broadcasting Service will expand on this, offering robust programming and commercial content.”

“Once approved, AMAC Broadcasting Service will commence broadcasting, providing a new platform for information, entertainment, and commercial content to the municipal area”.

Speaking, the Executive Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu represented by the Chief of staff, AMAC, Emeka Orji welcomed the representatives of National Broadcasting Commission, saying the project is close to his heart.

“Your report is crucial to our launch, and we assure you that any recommendations will be implemented swiftly. As a newly established broadcasting station, we kindly request your consideration and guidance”.

He also appreciated the visit and solicited for their support and Corporation which will enable the stations to go on air soon.

“We assure you that any observations made will be addressed promptly. As an upcoming broadcasting station, we humbly request your consideration. Just as the entertainment industry recognizes ‘upcoming artists,’ we’re pioneering a new concept in broadcasting.

Speaking, the Abuja Zonal Director, FCA, NBC, Wales Oshisanwo commended the effort of the managing director and the staff of AMAC Broadcasting Service

“We’re here to inspect AMAC broadcasting facility and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, saying the process involves: temporary broadcast permit for test transmission, Monitoring signal strength, content, and technical quality 24/7, Report and evaluation and then approval before broadcasting code is given.

According to him, the broadcasting code is set by industry stakeholders, academics, and regulators. It’s not just the NBC code. We prioritize self-regulation and internal control mechanisms.

“Our goal is to ensure you operate within agreed-upon standards, maintaining a peaceful society, protecting investors, and safeguarding staff welfare”.

“We acknowledge significant investment in this project. We’re committed to supporting you. Our engineers will inspect the transmitting site, and we’ll provide a list of required items”.

Once the station Mlmeet the minimum standards, we’ll grant permission for test transmission. Our objective is to ensure the industry’s overall quality.

He solicited for the support and collaborate of the management of the ABS to clear remaining hurdles, Meet minimum standards, and then they’ll grant test transmission permission.
