From HASSAN JIRGI Maiduguri.
Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume has called on President Bola Tinubu to dismiss more ministers, including that of power, from his cabinet.
Senator Ndume expressed concern over the ongoing power outage affecting the entire Northern Nigeria.
The lawmaker made this known during an interview with BBC Hausa Service, monitored by our correspondent.
Ndume said almost ten days after, the northern part of the country has been plagued by power outage, significantly impacting the lives of residents and businesses in the private and public sectors.
He urged the northern governors to pressure and demand that the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, quickly Resolves the current situation.
He added that the outages were attributed to vandalism of the 330kV Shiroro-Kaduna power line which supplies electricity to the north.
He said northern leaders, who are expected to be at the forefront of calling on TCN and other agencies to fix the problem, remain silent and watch. Is it because they can afford to buy fuel and use generators or solar energy in their homes?
According to him, the silence of key northern stakeholders, including senators, members of the House Representatives and governors on issues affecting Northern Nigeria, is concerning.
He also called on northern governors, leaders, stakeholders and wealthy individuals to unite and set aside political and religious differences for the benefit of the people and the development of Northern Nigeria.
He appealed to TCN to quickly provide solutions to the ongoing power outage in the north. What kind of problem cannot be solved within ten days?
AljazirahNigeria learnt that TCN has been releasing daily updates with varying explanations.
