From Ibrahim Goronyo, Sokoto
Sokoto State government has inaugurated a special advisory committee to develop a robust economic roadmap.
Governor Ahmad Aliyu decried that his government had been servicing debts inherited from the past administration, hence the need to bring experts on board to proffer workable solutions.
The governor, who cited lack of economic data and poor tax collection as another reason for initiating an economic advisory committee, urged them to ensure the economic prosperity of the state.
Responding, the Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Bello Maccido assured the governor and the state that they would do everything possible to advise government on how best to step into the path of solid economic prosperity.
“We will advise on the sectors to focus on and innovative financial solutions that will help the state broaden its sources of financing,” he assured.
Maccido noted that he has confidence in his committee members, thus there would be no disappointment.
Special Adviser to governor on Economy, Dr Bashir Achida is to serve as secretary of the committee.
