House of Representatives has approved the establishment of a Promissory Note Programme to reimburse Nasarawa and Kebbi State governments for the takeover of airport projects by the federal government expected to gulp over N24 billion.
The decision was reached, following the presentation of a report by the Committee on Aids, Loans, and Debt Management led by Abubakar Nalaraba, during plenary.
A breakdown of the approved funds include N9.54 billion for Nasarawa State, related to the construction of a cargo airport and N15.13 billion for Kebbi State, in connection with the development of Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport.
The Federal Executive Council, FEC, had earlier validated the claims by both states.
This move is part of government’s broader efforts to support infrastructural development in key sectors across the country.
The Committee on Supply approved the report and its recommendations for the reimbursement programme.
