The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) has officially granted a license to the Abuja Industrial Park (ZEBERCED) Free Zone, backed by an initial investment of $150 million.
During the handover ceremony of the operating license to the Turkish owners of the private zone, NEPZA’s Managing Director, Dr. Olufemi Ogunyemi, announced that the new business hub, spanning 250 hectares, will house over 170 factories and create 40,000 jobs.
Dr. Ogunyemi emphasized that the free zone, situated in Idu Industrial Layout Phase IV, is poised to significantly boost Nigeria’s economy through the export of manufactured goods.
He noted that this development marks a significant milestone for NEPZA as it continues to fulfill its mandate of managing the Free Trade Zone scheme in line with government directives.
“This new Abuja Industrial Park Free Zone will reshape the business landscape of the Federal Capital Territory and enhance Nigeria’s global export competitiveness while increasing employment opportunities,” Ogunyemi said.
He also urged both local and international investors to explore Nigeria’s free zone program, which offers some of the most competitive global incentives.
ZEBERCED Managing Director, Mr. Adil Kurt, expressed satisfaction with the government’s streamlined one-stop-shop policy that accelerated the licensing process. He noted that the zone is set to become a key hub for manufacturing and export.
