Benue State governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia has implored the people to be interested in what his administration is doing to ensure good governance.

Governor Alia spoke at a thanksgiving service to mark his 34th anniversary as a priest, organised by wives of serving commissioners.

The governor acknowledged the contributions of the people which he said made possible the success story of his administration.

He said apart from the massive road construction across the state, payment of salaries, pensions, renovation of state secretariat, general hospitals and recruitment of 9,700 teachers, a lot is still happening in other sectors.

The governor, who was excited with the people over their response in the payment of taxes, said henceforth, each project must be attached to the tax collected by government, assuring tax payers that his administration would remain committed towards calibrating tax administration for people to know exactly where their money is going to.

He said this would enable the people to know that they are also contributing to good governance, as this would make them own the business of government.

The governor commended the wives of his commissioners and their husbands for organising a thanksgiving in his honor and equally expressed appreciation to the people of Benue State for their show of solidarity to him and his administration.

He also thanked his brother priests, particularly his classmates at the Major Seminary, Jos, for always standing by him over the years and for their sustained support, as well as prayers for the success of his administration and called for sustenance, emphasising that it is only through prayers that God would continue to give him the grace to provide good governance to the masses.
