By Blessing Otobong-Gabriel

Momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections is gathering pace as stakeholders have intensified calls on Chief Promise Lawuru to contest the House of Representatives seat for Warri Federal Constituency.

The latest appeal came on Friday when members of the Warri Progressive Frontiers paid a courtesy visit to Lawuru in Warri, Delta State, urging him to consider offering himself for public service at the federal legislative level.

Speaking during the visit, the National Coordinator of the group said their appeal was driven by Lawuru’s track record in community empowerment and his contributions to human capital development across the constituency.

He noted that the Warri Federal Constituency requires credible and people-oriented leadership in the National Assembly, stressing that Lawuru possesses the vision, experience and grassroots connection necessary to effectively represent the interests of the people.

According to him, the group and other concerned stakeholders believe Lawuru’s involvement in community development initiatives has positioned him as a capable candidate who can deliver purposeful representation for the constituency.

Responding, Chief Lawuru thanked the delegation for the visit and the confidence reposed in him.

He acknowledged the growing calls for him to join the race but said he would first engage in wide consultations with key stakeholders across the Warri Federal Constituency before making a final decision.

Lawuru disclosed that similar appeals had been made by other leaders and stakeholders encouraging him to contest the seat.

He assured members of the group that he would carefully review the request and communicate his decision after completing the necessary consultations.
