Worried over Governor Monday Okpebholo’s alleged threat on the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi after his visit to Benin City, Edo State, angry Igbos in Edo and Delta States have started mobilisation for the latter ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

A statement signed by the Coordinator-General of the group under the aegis of “Igbo Unity Forum”, Chief Ekene Okpara, yesterday, said the mobilisation became necessary, following the current poor state of the economy, adding that Igbos across the globe are not happy with Okpebholo over his alleged threat to Obi.

Regretting that the All Progressives Congress, APC, came into power to worsen the economy, Chief Okpara averred that “Nigerians are currently facing the worst time on earth. Besides, we have moved into action to mobilise five million votes for Obi in whatever party he joins to contest the  presidential race come 2027. We will ensure that Governor Okpebholo’s alleged threat that Obi should always notify him whenever he is coming to Edo State remains a threat.”

Noting that Okpebholo and Obi are two different persons in politics, Okpara described the governor as a “busy body,” urging him to be focused and avoid whatever that will bring him to disrepute.

Okpara while calling on Edo and Delta people to join hands with the forum to ensure victory for Obi, however, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to look into the dismal failure of the economy and deplorable state of roads across the 36 states.
