…Abdulsalami’s son set for contest 27 years after father enthroned return to democracy

The popularity of late President Muhammadu Buhari once again, reverberated, as his son,Yusuf got an easy ride over his opponent to clinch the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, 2027 election ticket for Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State.

AljazirahNigeria reports that Yusuf defeated ex-DSS DG’s son, Auwalu Musa Daura. 

The forner President’s son polled 17,342 votes to defeat Daura who secured 480 votes.

Yusuf is among young generation politicians who invariably would build on the political popularity of the fathers as the trend spiral ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Similarly, Adamu Abubakar, son of former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, has emerged winner of the APC House of Representatives primary election for Chanchaga Federal Constituency in Niger State.

Returning Officer, AbdulMumin Attahiru, said Abubakar got a landslide victory of 30,650 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nmaa Ahmed, who secured 1,271 votes while another contestant, Shuaibu Mairago, scored 311 votes in the exercise conducted across the 11 wards of the constituency.

Abubakar declared Adamu Abubakar as winner of the primary election and returned him as the APC candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.

Elsewhere in the state  Lapai Federal Constituency, the Returning Officer, Ibrahim Usman, announced that Alhaji Abdullahi Mahmud won the APC primary election with 8,559 votes.

Besides, Usman said Sadiqu Mustapha scored 395 votes, while Mr Mahawiya Yusuf polled 247 votes in the election conducted across the 10 wards of the constituency.

In this vein, he declared Mahmud winner of the contest and returned him as the party’s candidate for the constituency.

In the same vein, Prof. Yakubu Auna emerged winner of the APC primary election for Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency.

Meanwhile, for Zaria Federal Constituency, Speaker, House Of Representatives, Abbas emerged unopposed with 930 votes.

“Right Honourable Abbas Tajuddeen, having satisfied the requirements of APC Constitution and Guidelines and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner of the primary election and is returned elected as the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Zaria Federal Constituency”, Hosseini said.

It would be recalled that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were present during the collation of results.
