All Progressives Congress, APC, North Central Zone has adopted President Bola Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The adoption was made yesterday in Lafia at the party’s zonal congress, following a motion moved by Sen. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation

Akume, who described the North Central as a unifying force in Nigeria, said the zone remained critical to the country’s unity, stability and electoral success of the APC.

He commended governors and ministers from the zone for what he termed “exceptional performance”, urging stakeholders to sustain grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.

“With the calibre of politicians and grassroots support I have seen here, I have no doubt that when votes are counted in 2027, the North Central will deliver the highest number of votes for President Bola Tinubu”, he said.

He urged party members not to relent in voter registration and mobilisation, stressing the need for hard work to secure a resounding victory.

Akume also cited ongoing economic reforms and improvements as indicators of progress under Tinubu’s administration.

“I want to use this occasion to move a motion for the adoption of President Bola Tinubu as our sole candidate for 2027″, he said.

The motion was seconded by Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, who attributed developmental strides in states to the President’s economic reforms.

Sule said that some state governments were executing projects without borrowing, owing to improved fiscal conditions.

“For that reason, I second the motion for the North Central Zone to adopt President Bola Tinubu as our sole candidate”, he said.

Earlier in his welcome address, Sule  commended the national leadership of the party for fostering unity and growth, noting that the APC continued to attract more governors across the country.

He added that the successful conduct of ward, local government and state congresses demonstrated the party’s internal cohesion.

Also speaking, Prof. Nantawe Yilwatda, APC National Chairman, represented by the party’s Deputy National Secretary, Prof. Abdulkarim Kana, described the North Central as a “political bridge” and a stronghold of the party.
