13% Derivation: Nine States Receive N118.26bn In One Month

Nine states received N118.26 billion from the Federation Account in June 2025 under the 13% mineral derivation principle, according to documents released by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation ,OAGF.

The OAGF, in a report by its Federation Account Allocation Committee ,FAAC, disclosed that the amount shared by the nine states was 1.16% higher than the N116.898 billion shared by the nine oil mineral producing states in May 2025.

According to the report, the nine states are Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, Rivers.

The OAGF stated that in June 2025, Abia received N1.712 billion; Akwa Ibom N24.051 billion; Anambra N1.877 billion; Bayelsa N26.275 billion; Delta N35.017 billion; Edo N3.768 billion; Imo N2.347 billion; Ondo N3.295 billion, and Rivers N18.913 billion.

In comparison, in May 2025, N1.883 billion, N23.304 billion, N1.972 billion, N23.426 billion, and 36.351 billion was allocated to Abia , Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa and Delta states, respectively, while Edo, Imo, Ondo and Rivers stated received N3.267 billion, N2.796 billion, N2.959 billion, and N20.939 billion, respectively.

Giving a breakdown of the allocation, the OAGF explained that the nine states received N95.661 billion from the derivation principle from crude oil revenue, while N22.594 billion was allocated to the states from the country’s earnings from gas.

In another development, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission ,NUPRC,, said it collected N630.964 billion from the petroleum industry in June 2025, representing 52.37% of the budgeted amount of N1.205 trillion.

In a report to the Federation Account Allocation Committee ,FAAC, the NUPRC noted that the amount it collected in June was 2.57 per cent, or N15.837 billion higher compared with N615.128 billion collected in May 2025.

The NUPRC said: “The increase in collection for the month of June 2025 can be attributed to the increase in gas flare collection from the outstanding debts of operators.

“There was no collection on Project Gazelle in June 2025. However, out of the total share due to the FGN, the sum of N47.726 billion has been refunded by the Central Bank of Nigeria ,CBN, into the Federal Government of Nigeria Account in the month under review”.

It added that it transferred N630.965 trillion to the Federation Account in June 2025, adding that the total amount transferred to the Federation Account by the CBN from January to June 2025 was N4.005 trillion.
