A meeting of governors elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday ended in deadlock as such adjourned for today in hope to reach a common position to salvage the party from its ongoing internal crisis.
AljazirahNigeria reports that the crisis has polarised the opposition party into two camps of ex-Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
The fault lines in the party decorated last resulting in the balkanisation of the National Working Committee, NWC, into two as well as the emergence of factional chair of the PDP.
It was gathered that yesterday’s zoom meeting by PDP Governors’ Forum, led by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, started around 5:pm.
There are high expectations within the party that today’s meeting will yield fruits as the governors according to sources are likely to strike an acceptable deal with a view to pulling the PDP out of its internal crisis.
AljazirahNigeria reports that what blew up the brewing crisis was the alleged anti-party of Ambassador Damagun and Sen.Anyanwu in siding the embattled Rivers State Same members led by Amaewhuele at the Appeal Court where Damagun wrote a letter against the position of the PDP and Governor Fubara of Rivers State
The move to remove Damagum has split the PDP governors, with the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, leading six other governors pushing for Damagum’s ouster and the Oyo State Gov Seyi Makinde leading three others and two governors stood neutral.
