From HASSAN JIRGI Damaturu
Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni has provided each of the 1,098 pilgrims with 300 Saudi Riyals to assist in covering the cost of hadaya (sacrificial rites).
Executive Chairman of Yobe State Pilgrims Commission, Alhaji Mai Biriri announced the governor’s intervention yesterday, noting that this latest gesture complements the already excellent welfare.
“From comfortable accommodation to nutritious meals, our pilgrims are experiencing the best possible care, thanks to Governor Buni’s visionary leadership,” he stated.
Pilgrims have openly praised Governor Buni for his continuous efforts in advancing their welfare in the holy land.
The accommodation is excellent, the feeding is more than adequate and now this financial assistance for hadaya – we cannot ask for more,” one of the pilgrims said.
He also urged beneficiaries to use the funds appropriately while praying for lasting peace in Yobe and Nigeria.
“As you perform this sacred act, remember our state and nation in your supplications,” he reminded the pilgrims.
This initiative builds on Yobe’s track record of outstanding pilgrim welfare services, which include subsidised Hajj fares, premium decent accommodation and comprehensive medical care – all contributing to the state’s reputation for Hajj excellence.
As the Hajj rites continue, Yobe pilgrims join the global Muslim community in worship, carrying with them, prayers for peace and prosperity in their home state and across Nigeria.
It would be recalled that Yobe had consistently distinguished itself as one of Nigeria’s leading states in Hajj preparation, with perfect accommodation and feeding arrangements that have drawn widespread commendation from pilgrims.
The state’s exemplary welfare packages have earned it numerous awards and recognition over the years, setting a benchmark for others to follow.
Our correspondent learnt that hadaya (sacrificial animal) is a compulsory rite for pilgrims, commemorating the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim.
With the rising cost of livestock in Saudi Arabia, the governor’s intervention came as a significant relief to many pilgrims.
