Delta Youth Leaders Seeks Investment In Agriculture To Boost Food Security

The Urhrobo Youths Leaders Association’s, UYLA, FCT Chapter have called for investment in agriculture in the state and Nigeria at large, adding that such investment will boost food security.

The group said the “Earn from the Soil initiatives” about to be established by the senior Special Assistant to the President on community Engagement South South, Hon.Gift Johnbull will empower over 50, 000 women in the region.

This is contained in a statement signed by the President of the Urhobo Youth Leaders Association, UYLA, FCT Chapter, Comrade Kennedy Ejename in Abuja.

The statement explains that investing in agriculture in the South South will help solve the problem of local food supply that will make the nation earn foreign exchange through food exportation.

“Today’s event has shown that the South South is an investment destination of choice considering its human and abundant natural resources. If you properly gleaned the facts from the presentation by former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Dr. Donald Duke and the currently representing Delta Central at the National Assembly, Senator Ede Dafinone, you will be convinced that investing in agriculture in the South South will help solve the problem of local food supply and even earn foreign exchange for our country through food exportation” Comrade Ejename stresses.

According to the statement, Comrade Ejename applauds the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement for showcasing the rich natural resources and investment potentials of the South South region.

“Hon. Gift Johnbull who is the SSA to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has recorded another class of excellent performance through this initiatives by empowering women”

The statement further calls on stakeholders in the region, the governors of the six states in the region, members of the National Assembly, Ministers from the regions, various heads of Federal government agencies and intervention commissions, traditional rulers and other youth bodies to suppprt her in the project to boost the region.

According to the statement UYLA FCT Chapter hails her performance on the just concluded, “Road to South-South:

It commends the National Convergence Event for the Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu put together by her describing it as a huge success.

“The event which took place at the State House Banquet Hall FCT Abuja amidst distinguished guests featured robust discourse, awards and series of presentation on national dialogue and investment-partnership opportunities especially in agriculture and agro-like industries in the South South region of Nigeria” he adds.

“It showcases the extensive community engagements and activities that have been carried out by the Office of Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Community Engagement, Hon. Gift Johnbull”

“The climax of the event was the official launch of a maiden agricultural initiative by Hon. Gift Johnbull tagged, “Project Earn From The Soil.” This initiative signposts the vast potential and investment opportunities in agricultural activities in the South South region”
