African Democratic Congress, ADC says the Nigerian youths needs freedom and empowerment to showcase their talent and vision rather than being vilified.
This is even as the party criticized the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu government noting that the Renewed Hope agenda has not yielded the needed results to address the challenges of the youths and the country at large.
National Chairman, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu stated this while inaugurating the ADC youth Global Council at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
“Over 70 percent of this population are young men and women, the youths. But unfortunately, the APC government has no regard for these people. Nigeria has about $200 million GDP, but about seven companies – Apple, Amazon, Goggle, Microsoft, etc, have annual turnover of that runs into trillion of dollars. The amazing thing is that four of these companies were set up by young men in their 20s. The companies have grown to be the most biggest corporations in the world. So the most vibrant, energetic and skilful are the over 70 percent population that the APC government has neglected.
The best thing that happened in this country came from our youths. Our youths abroad project Nigeria in a positive way. But in Nigeria, a government that wants to make the people great, a government that promised Renewed Hope, is not seeing the hope in our young men and women. This is very sad. For us in ADC believe that these young people need empowerment; these young people need to be allowed to use their creativity to turnaround Nigeria and the continent.
“ADC is saying, enough is enough. Our youths need empowerment and freedom. Recently, our youths wanted to protest against bad leadership, government spent so much money trying to stop them. Allow them the freedom.
The thought behind ADC Continental Youth Council is to allow the youths the freedom to think, and the imagination to innovate, the create and co-create, the create ideas to take our country and continent to where we should be.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda, is becoming hopelessness.
We are running a government that is talking of Renewed Hope Agenda. Where are the goal posts? What is the goal post for your economic team, Aviation Minister, Tourism? Everything has collapsed”
