4 Female Inmates Participate In SSCE/NECO In Edo

Nigerian Correctional Service Female Custodial Facility at Auchi said four female inmates participated in the last June/July 2024 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, SSCE, organised by the National Examination Council, NECO.

Edo State Command, Aminu Suleiman stated this in a press release made available to journalists in Benin City.

The command stated that, “this marks the climax of the secondary education that inmates began from the scratch by attending adult literacy classes at the Female Custodial Facility.”

Deputy Controller of Corrections in charge of the facility, Odoh Jane congratulated the inmates for the milestone. She eulogized their resilience and dedication to become better citizens. 

Odoh stated that the Nigerian Correctional Service under the  leadership of Haliru Nababa is poised to ensure the rehabilitation and reformation of inmates through various means including educational training, skills acquisition, sports and many more.

Odoh informed the inmates that the Controller of Corrections, Edo State Command, Emehinola Philomena has assured of her continued support to all the inmates in the quest to achieve successful reformation, rehabilitation and reintegration into the society. 

She urged them to “ensure that they  further their studies, excel and contribute their quota toward a better society when they regain freedom.” 

Coordinator of the inmates educational activities, Imonikhe Evelyn stated that six inmates registered for NECO, while four wrote the examination and two legally regained freedom from custody before the commencement of the examination. 

On behalf of the other female inmates, Miss Mercy expressed profound gratitude to God Almighty, the Controller-General of Corrections and the management of the Nigerian Correctional Service for a dream come true, promising to be ambassadors of change.
