The Nigerian women opened their campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Burundi before producing a commanding 3-0 win against Namibia. They rounded off an outstanding group-stage performance with another emphatic 3-0 triumph over Madagascar to finish unbeaten and top their group.
The team’s impressive run has placed Nigeria in a strong position as the competition enters its decisive phase, where only the best-performing nations will remain in contention for promotion to World Group II.
Against Madagascar, Success Ogunjobi set the tone for another dominant outing by winning the opening singles rubber with a composed display. Barakat Oyinlomo Quadre then secured victory in the second singles match to give Nigeria an unassailable lead.
The pairing of Barakat Oyinlomo Quadre and Khadijat Mohammed completed the clean sweep in the doubles, combining brilliantly to seal a 3-0 victory and preserve Nigeria’s unbeaten record in the tournament.
