The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced another major breakthrough in its ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the North-East, following precision airstrikes that destroyed a terrorist hideout and eliminated several insurgents in Borno State.

According to the Air Force, the operation was carried out on Friday, July 10, 2026, by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, targeting a terrorist enclave located at Yaganari within the Gezuwa general area of Borno State.

The Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Saturday.

He explained that the successful mission followed credible intelligence reports indicating renewed terrorist activity and the gathering of armed fighters within the area.

Ejodame stated that intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations were immediately launched to verify the reports before any military action was taken.

According to him, the surveillance missions confirmed the existence of terrorist camps, logistics facilities and other operational structures within the targeted location.

Following confirmation of the intelligence, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai executed a series of carefully coordinated precision strikes against the identified positions.

“Acting on credible intelligence on renewed terrorist activities and the concentration of fighters in the area, the Air Component conducted intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions which confirmed the presence of terrorist structures and logistics hubs,” Ejodame said.

“The targets were subsequently engaged in a series of precision strikes, leading to the destruction of terrorist infrastructure and the neutralization of several terrorists,” he added.

The Air Force noted that the latest operation represents another significant blow to terrorist groups operating in the North-East, further limiting their capacity to regroup and launch attacks.

According to the statement, sustained air offensives have continued to degrade the operational capabilities of terrorist elements by restricting their movement and dismantling their support infrastructure.

“The successful operation further underscores the growing pressure being mounted on terrorist elements, whose freedom of movement and ability to regroup continue to be severely degraded by sustained air offensives,” the statement said.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the officers and aircrew involved in the mission for their professionalism, commitment and precision during the operation.

He reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s determination to sustain aggressive air operations against terrorist groups and other threats to national security across the country.

“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to deliver decisive air power in concert with surface forces to hunt down, disrupt and destroy terrorist elements wherever they may seek refuge.

“We remain committed to ensuring that terrorists have no safe haven and no opportunity to recover their capabilities,” the Air Chief stated.

Air Marshal Aneke further emphasised that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain focused on consolidating the gains already achieved in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign and will continue working with other security agencies to restore lasting peace in affected communities.
