World Paralympic champion and Team Nigeria captain, Folashade Oluwafemiayo, has expressed satisfaction with the quality of preparations at Team Nigeria’s training camp in Aberdeen, Scotland, ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which begin on July 23 in Glasgow.
Oluwafemiayo, who is leading Nigeria’s contingent to the Games, speaking on Monday in Scotland said the training environment and facilities have provided athletes with the ideal platform to fine-tune their preparations for the multi-sport event.
She noted that the camp has enabled athletes across different sports to train under excellent conditions while fostering unity and team spirit among members of the Nigerian delegation.
“We are happy with the facilities and the atmosphere here in Aberdeen. Everything has been well organised, and the camp has given us the opportunity to prepare adequately for the Commonwealth Games,” she said.
With the Commonwealth Games set to commence on July 23, Team Nigeria is expected to compete in several sporting events, aiming to improve on its previous performances and challenge for medals.
The Aberdeen training camp forms a key part of the country’s final preparations as athletes continue to sharpen their skills and fitness before the opening ceremony in Glasgow.
The Nigerian contingent remains optimistic that the excellent facilities, quality training sessions and strong team spirit developed in camp will inspire podium finishes and make the nation proud at the Games.
