NCC’s 112 Emergency Service To Be Centralized In New Ministry Collaboration

Date:

Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani has announced a significant collaboration with the Ministry of Interior.

Tijani made the announcement when he hosted his counterpart, Minister Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, to discuss ways to enhance government services through technology.

During the meeting, according to a post he shared on X, they presented the 112 emergency number service solution, facilitated by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, to key officials from the Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps, and the Federal Fire Service.

These agencies are crucial for internal security and emergency response.

A notable outcome of the meeting was an agreement for the Ministry of Interior to actively align all stakeholders, as both ministries work together to harmonize existing emergency numbers under the 112 platform.

This initiative aims to create a more efficient system for managing emergency communications across Nigeria.

This initiative also highlights the Nigerian government’s dedication to leveraging technology to improve public services, ensuring that citizens can obtain emergency assistance more efficiently and dependably
